Online psychotherapy and counselling for men and women

Links

The following websites offer information about professional accreditation, the different types of counselling and psychotherapy on offer and about specific psychological issues that I am interested in. There are also some self-help resources if you are struggling with stress and anxiety.

  • Many clients find guided meditation and mindfulness exercises to be beneficial. Calm and Headspace are two of the most popular apps in an expanding field

  • If you are feeling stressed, panicky or having trouble sleeping, the 4-7-8 breathing technique can help you to calm down and relax

  • Mental health information from the NHS

  • Information and support from mental health charity Mind, where I was formerly an honorary counsellor

  • Writing as a Way of Healing – Louise deSalvo's fascinating book on the therapeutic use of storytelling. I hold an MA in creative writing from the University of East Anglia so this is a subject in which I'm particularly interested

  • Some useful LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans) and GSRD (gender, sexuality and relationship diversity) links from Pink Therapy. I am a graduate of their Alternative Sexualities training programme

  • Help, advice and downloadable information from the UK's largest bereavement charity, Cruse Bereavement Care, for which I formerly volunteered as a bereavement counsellor
